Ultimate Shanghai Disneyland Travel Guide: Tips, Tricks, and Must-Do Attractions

Shanghai Disneyland, the sixth Disney theme park globally after Hong Kong Disneyland, is located in Pudong New Area, Shanghai, China, covering an area of 390 hectares and being the largest Disney park in Asia.

Within the park, there are eight major themed areas: Mickey Avenue, Gardens of Imagination, Adventure Isle, Treasure Cove, Tomorrowland, Enchanted Storybook Castle, Toy Story Land, and the newly opened Zootopia at the end of 2023.

Each area is filled with Disney's magical elements blended with traditional Chinese culture. For instance, Wandering Moon Restaurant – Special Merchandise Exclusive Shop, the only ancient Chinese architectural structure in all Disney parks worldwide, adopts the architectural style of the Huizhou School, incorporating six major elements: tea, ocean, forest, mountain, desert, and river, forming a unique architectural style.

I.Ticket Purchase and Preliminary Preparation

1.Ticket Purchase
  • It is recommended to purchase tickets in advance through the official website (https://www.shanghaidisneyresort.com/en/tickets), Shanghai Disney Resort App, or designated channels to avoid on-site queuing. Ticket prices are divided into four categories: Regular Day (475 RMB), Special Regular Day (599 RMB), Peak Day (719 RMB), and Special Peak Day (799 RMB).

Note: Tickets are designated for specific dates and can only be used for entry on the selected date during purchase.

2.Download the Official APP

  • Download the "Shanghai Disney Resort" APP ahead of time. After entering the park, link your ticket to the APP to view ride wait times, make show reservations, access maps, purchase FastPass ticket, and more.

3.Bring Necessary Items

  • For a hassle-free entry into the Park, remember to bring the following, and head directly to the Main Entrance:

- The government credential / travel document used to purchase the tickets

- Your original ticket confirmation

If the government credential / travel document was used to purchase more than one ticket, please make sure you have all your travel party with you when entering.

  • Depending on the weather, bring sunscreen, a sunhat, and a rain poncho. Shanghai has a climate with 4 distinct seasons where, depending upon the time of year, it can be very wet and humid or quite chilly. Temperatures range from winter lows of about 10˚C to summer highs above 33˚C.
  • If needed, you can also bring a power bank and a camera.

4.Understand Park Rules

  • Items such as flammable and explosive materials, imitation weapons, alcoholic beverages, glass containers, and selfie sticks are prohibited inside the park.
