Q&A

How tall are the Terracotta Warriors?

The Terracotta Warriors are remarkably tall, generally standing between 1.75 and 2 meters, with an average height of around 1.8 meters. Even by today's standards, that's pretty tall! Their impressive stature captures the mighty presence of the Qin Dynasty's powerful army.

Were the Terracotta Warriors made by firing real people in clay?

Absolutely not! The warriors are hollow inside, with no human bones found within them. They were crafted by skilled artisans using clay, fired in sections, and then assembled and sculpted into lifelike figures.

How were the Terracotta Warriors discovered?

In 1974, farmers digging a well to combat drought in Xiyang Village, Lintong, Shaanxi, accidentally unearthed fragments of the Terracotta Warriors. This chance discovery brought one of the world's most extraordinary archaeological wonders, buried for over 2,200 years, back into the spotlight.

Whether you are visiting with family, exploring Chinese history, or looking for a distinctive cultural experience in Shanghai, Imperial Code invites you to discover the mysteries of the Qin Empire in your own way.
